Santa Comes to Town!

Santa came to our house- literally! The Sheriff's department drove him through the neighborhood and they stopped right in front of our driveway. Sophie was SO excited that he was coming until it was her turn to sit on his lap and then she started saying how scary he is. She finally went up there with the whole family (it looks like the candy cane helped too!).
So we've been talking to Sophie about giving her pacifiers to Santa so he can give them to the babies, and in return, she'll get a nice present. We decided to give up the paci on this particular night. Santa looked a little puzzled when she handed her paci over- and then he handed it right back to me in case we need it for an emergency meltdown! Within minutes of giving it up, she was asking for it back. But, we held firm and she even went to bed without it that night. We were doing really well until she found another one in the house. So, we are going to find all of the paci's in the house (including Ethan's since he doesn't like them) and we are going to leave them w/ some cookies and carrots on Christmas Eve.
In the meantime, Sophie has learned how to climb out of her crib. I was really hoping to keep her in her crib until she turned 3 but the thought of her climbing out on her own was enough to convert her bed to a toddler bed. She took her first nap in it today and it went great but the big test will be how she does at 4 am when she wakes up and realizes she can literally roll out. I guess I should go to bed early in case I am up at the crack of dawn!!

  1. I love your new family picture, you guys look great! Good luck with the big girl bed! Ella made the transition at 2 years 3 months. The first couple of nights were fine. Then it took about a month of me laying on her floor and slowly sneaking out till she finally got comfortable. Merry X-Mas!!
